21 Days/20 Nights MNW – 004 Myanmar Odyssey

Day01 : Arrival Yangon – Bago – Goldan Rock

After arrival to Yangon International airport then proceed to Bago, approx; 2 hours, the ancient Mon Kingdom as well as the seat of second Myanmar Dynasty. Upon arrival at Bago, visit, Kyaik Pun pagoda with four Giant Buddhas sitting in back-to-back position, visit Shwe Maw Daw pagoda, the biggest and tallest Pagoda in Southern Myanmar and then continue to KyaikHto, the junction town to go up the Golden Rock. Upon arrival at Kin Pun Base Camp, transfer by open-truck up to Hermit Hill. From there, wait about one hour to reach the Golden Rock. The trekking from Hermit Hill to the top is not very difficult meeting with Myanmar pilgrims on the way, encouraging each other. After check-in at the hotel, walk to Golden Rock. Enjoy the marvel of the situation of the Rock and view the evening activities of many Myanmar Buddhist pilgrims. After sunset on the Golden Rock, walk back to your hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day02 : Golden Rock – Yangon – Bagan

After breakfast, go up to the pagoda platform to enjoy the sunrise if you wish. Then walk down to Hermit Hill and by open truck transfer to Kin Pun Base Camp. From there, drive to KyaikHto town. Then, proceed to Yangon in the private car. When you arrive to Yangon International airport check in for your flight to Bagan by noon flight. After arrival to Nyaug U airport transfer to your hotel if time limits you can stop for sunset of Bagan from suitable temple on the way to your hotel. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day03 : Bagan – Chauk – KaZuma – Saw – Kanpetlet

In the early morning after your breakfast at hotel, Start for your long journey to Kanpetlet for approximately 7 hour drive which is located in the west of Bagan about 160 Km far away and the southern part of Chin state and about 1600m above the sea level, the weather is pleasant too. After one hour drive you will proceed to Chauk Market and stop for stress the leg and stroll around local market and enjoy the local atmosphere. All around the way you will enjoy for the scenery Chin hill. We will pass several nature creeks and streams on the way. Enjoy for beautiful landscape, rice fields and Thanatkha (natural cosmetic) plant plantation. Stop for lunch at local restaurant in Saw small town. Continue to Kanpetlet and enjoy for you dinner with traditional chin style food and stay overnight at Pine Wood Villa.

Day04 : Kanpetlet – Mt. Victoria – Aye Village – KyarDo – Mindat

After breakfast, take car to 10.5 miles post for 1 hr & to start trek about 1:30 hours to Mt. Victoria summit. The beauty of Rhododendron forest and the sound of silence will drive away your exhaustion there you are on the summit of Mt. Victoria (3050m). It is originally known as Nat Ma Taung after named Mt.Victoria, the memorial present to England Queen Victoria in the British time. In local language, it is called Khaw Nou Toung (The Great Mountain or The Mountain of Spirit or The Mother of Mountain) after that continue to Aye village, Today, you’ll visit several local Chin villages to learn more about traditional tribal life. You will drive to Mashiyaw village, and then trek to two small villages, Kyar Do and Lupet, where you can meet local people, learn more about their tattoo custom, and visit the village sites, including the sacrifice post and the traditional circle stone slab cemetery. Afterward, you’ll drive to the Mindat and stay overnight at a simple guest house.

Day05 : Mindat – KyunChaung – Boat – Bagan

After your breakfast at local restaurant then visit to morning market and study for Chin textile and stroll around the small market. Drive to kyungchaung jetty on the way you can make several stop for taking photos and relax. You will pass several nature creeks and streams on the way. Enjoy for beautiful landscape, rice fields and Thanatkha (natural cosmetic) plant plantation. Stop for lunch at local restaurant in Pauk, stop at Kamma local market and enjoy the local atmosphere. After long journey you will reach to the jetty then cross the Ayeyarwaddy River by boat 45 minutes to Ayeyar jetty at Bagan. Enjoy the sunset from the boat on the way back to Bagan. Then transfer to your hotel and stay overnight at hotel.

Day06. Bagan – Mt.Popa – Bagan

After breakfast at your hotel, drive to Mt. Popa after driving about half an hour you will reach to the toddy farm, stop and visit, enjoy for seeing how they collect the juice from palm trees and how they made sugar ball (Jaggery ) and study ways of their life then continue to Mt. Popa after one hour drive you will reach to Popa village, stop for shopping special for seasonal fruit are available. Then continue to drive to Mt.Popa after arrival walk up over 700 steps to the top of Mt.Popa can study about Nats or Sprit. After sightseeing, drive back to Bagan and continue for your sightseeing in Bagan. Enjoy sun set from suitable temple.

Day07 : Bagan – Mandalay (River Cruise)

After breakfast at your hotel and then transfer to Jetty your Ayeyarwaddy river cruise will start depart from 7:00 AM to Mandalay it will take approx 9 hours. Enjoy for river cruise and relax on boat. After arrival Mandalay and transfer to hotel.

Day08 : Mandalay –Pyin Oo Lwin

After breakfast at your hotel, drive to Pyin O lwin. Pyin Oo Lwin was formerly known as May Myo. It is a resort town in Mandalay Division in Myanmar, located some 67 kilometers east of Mandalay, and at an altitude of 1070 meters (3510 feet). It was initially a Shan village situated between Naungcho and Mandalay on the Lashio-Mandalay road. Pyin Oo Lwin is also known as " Pan Myo Daw", means "The City of Flowers", for its different species and colorful flowers grown intensively.Even at the height of the hot season, Pyin U Lwin is pleasantly cool and at certain times of the year it can get quite chilly. Best of all, one can enjoy the fresh air of the Shan Hills. Sweater-knitting is the biggest occupation in town. Getting to Pyin Oo Lwin is part of its attraction. At the half-way mark you pass ‘View Point’, which are spectacular views. The standard transport around the town is miniature, enclosed wagon pulled by a pony. Another highlight is the magnificent botanical garden. You can also visit to Orchid firm. Strawberries are one of the products – in season (February-March) they’re cheap and delicious. Pyin Oo Lwin is also well known for its colonial style houses. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day09. Pyin Oo Lwin – Train – Kyauk Me – trek – Overnight at Monastery

At the early morning (8:00Am departure) transfer to Pyin Oo Lwin rail way station to take the train trip to Kyauk Me. You will make a train journey to get an unforgettable unique adventure experience for this day. Driving on the world second highest viaduct, historic Gokhtaik is one of the best train journeys in Myanmar. The bridge was built by the Pennsylvania Steel Co in 1903. Arrive at the afternoon in Kyauk Me station then transfer to the starting point for your trek to the village. About the history of Kyaukme, this town was terribly destroyed during the Second World War by the USAAF Tenth Air Force before was captured oin 1945 by the British until the Independence Day of Myanmar. Kyaukme is the ideal place for trekking, especially the surrounding Palaung villages in the hills. The major ethnic minorities here are Chinese and Shan so Kyaukme is the great place for you to experience the life of Both the Chinese and the Shan. You can visit their bamboo paper workshop and English School which is looking for foreigners to help with lessons and spend over night at Monastery.

Day10. Trek – Kyauk Me – Hsibaw

After breakfast, you will start trek down to Kyauk Me then continue drive to Hsibaw. Check in to Hsibaw resort. After fresh up take bicycle or by car to Nine Buddha hill it will take about 30 minutes ride to reach the food of the hill. After arrive we leave bicycle and walk up about 25 minutes to reach the top of the hill and enjoy for the panoramic view to Hsibaw town and the Myit Nge River which is one of the river flow to Ayeyarwaddy River, enjoy for the sunset from nine Buddha hill. Stay overnight at Hsibaw Resort.

Day11. Hsibaw – Pyin OO Lwin – Mokok

After breakfast at your hotel, Study for Shan noddle process then start drive to Mogok it will take approx 4:30 hour to reach there. Located at 1170 meters in elevation, the city has a fairly temperate climate year-round, and is home to mostly Bamar, with large minorities of Shan, Lisu, Palaung, as well as Chinese, Indians and Gurkhas whose ancestors migrated from Nepal. The city is composed of two towns, Mogok and Kyat Pyin. Mogok is four miles long and two miles wide. It is situated in a valley surrounded by a large number of mountains. Kyat Pyin lies about 12 miles from Mogok. You can visit to mines and study how it is hard work and ways of their life. On the drive out of town, you’ll stop at the gem market once again, and then visit Kyat Pyin to see how it all works. Tour the mines and meet the miners themselves - perhaps you’ll even get to see them find some rubies! Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day12 : Mogok full day Sight seeing

Today you’ll visit the mines to learn about the exciting gemstone industry. On the drive out of town, you’ll stop at the gem market once again, and then visit Kyat Pyin to see how it all works. Tour the mines and meet the miners themselves - perhaps you’ll even get to see them find some rubies! On the way home, you’ll stop at another gems market to see how the selection varies. At the afternoon enjoying a sunset and panoramic views from Padamya Pagoda, an incredible monument that sits high above the city then drive back to your hotel.

Day13 : Mogok - Tha Beik Kyin – Kyauk Myaung -On Boat (Dolphin Excursion)

After breakfast at your hotel then you can start your journey to The Beik Kyin which is the starting point for your river cruise and it will take approx 3:30 hrs. After arrive to the jetty start for your Ayeyarwaddy River cruise. You can study how the people made such a large pottery in their cottage industry at Kyauk Myaung Village and Ngwe Nyein villagebeeing travelling 1:30hrs by boat. Irrawaddy Dolphin, The Ayearwaddy dolphins have been mention in the historical background manuscript long time ago which dating back to the Chinese Tang Dynasty (1th century AD) named them the river pigs. Their habitats range from the Mekon River, the Mahakam River in Borneo and are also found even in the north of Australia. But in Myanmar it can find only in the Ayeyarwady River that this interactive fishing between fishers and these mammals can be found. In the stretch of the river between Mingun and Singu a group of these dolphins had made friends with the fishers from the surrounding villages. But these dolphins can only be found after the monsoon, when the water levels go down and sandbars appear in the river. Stay overnight on Boat.

Day14 : Dolphin Excursion – Mingun – Mandalay

After breakfast on your boat, today your journey back to Mandalay via start explore again for Dolphin. The fishers from the villages along the Ayeyarwaddy River upper and lower Shin Hla village, Tha bey gone, Sein Pan Gone, and Ye le Kyun village etc, had formed a rapport with the dolphins. The fishermen go out in their small canoes and tap on the sides with a wooden mallet, This is to tell the dolphins that they are here and ready to cooperate with them to look and catch looking for fish, Normally in 4 or 5 dolphins, they would circle around and frighten fish to the fishers direction to follow with the waves from their tails .Once the fishers are in tight formation they would slap down with their tails and that is when the fishers would cast their nets. On the way stop and visit to Mingun village. After arrive to Mingun visit to Pathodawgyi unfinished stupa built in 1790 by King Bodawpaya only one third (50m) was finished, Mingun bell (weights 90 tons), which is the second largest bell in the world that can still be rung Myantheintan temple built by the crown prince in 1860 as a memorial to his wife. Visit to home for age. After visit, come back to Mandalay by boat. At the afternoon, visit to Shwe Inn Pin teak monastery check in to hotel and stay overnight at hotel.

Day15 : Mandalay Full day sight seeing

In the morning visit to Myanansankyaw golden monastery, Kuthodaw pagoda known as the world largest book built by King Mindon in 1857 on the model of Shwezigon pagoda in Bagan and 729 slabs of marble were set up in the pagoda’s compound. Then proceed to Amarapura one of the capitals of Kongbaung dynasty founded by King Bodawpaya in 1783.Tour highlight include gold leaf making, bronze making, stone carving, wood carving, Mahamyatmuni temple which is the holiest site for upper Myanmar, silk weaving. At the evening proceed to U Bein Bridge for Sun set. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day16 : Mandalay – Heho – Pindaya – Loikaw

Early morning transfer to airport and fly to Heho. After arrival proceed to Pindaya cave for about one and half hour drive by car. The way to the Pindaya cave is magnificent that also known as midland of Shan State. And Pindaya is self-administrated zone for Danu ethnic. Danu people are growing upland rice, chives, ginger, and ground nut and so on. So the scenic and landscape are extraordinary. The tour highlight is Pindaya cave. It is a limestone cave and house for over 8000 Buddha images and cottage industry for Shan paper making. After your lunch at Pindaya then start drive for long journey to loikaw (Kayah State) it will take approx 5 to 6 hour drive. You can stop on the way at Pa-O village and taking photos. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day17 : Loikaw – PheKhon – Inle Lake

Start the day with breakfast at your hotel in Loikaw for the last time. Before you leave the city behind, don’t miss the chance to pick up some fabulous locally-made handicrafts at the market in the center and see the locals bartering for goods. From Loikaw, it’s a one-hour drive to Phe Khon, a beautiful small town beside the waters of Lake Inle. Take a stunning boat ride past the lake’s Sagar area for a relaxing and memorable five hours.

Day18 : Inle Lake – Taunggyi - Kakku – Inle Lake

Kakku is situated 26 miles south of Taunggyi and bordered by Naung Mon Township in the east. The region is strategically located on the blue mountain ranges and above 1300 meters of sea level. The entire region of Kakku is covered by Pa-O villages. It is mainly a group of thousands of pagodas and temples which were built in the 16th century. These are of great historical importance due to their existence dating back from 2000 years. On the way back visit Taunggyi stroll around center market and drive to Shwe Phon Pwint Pagoda which is located at the top of the mountain and you can see the panorama view to the whole cite. Drive back to your hotel.

Day19 : Inle Lake – Inn Dain full day sight seeing

After breakfast, proceed to Indein village situated southwest part of Inle Lake by taking a winding creek. Indein is a small village of Inntha and Pa-O tribe. Visit to Indein pagoda complex, there are over 1058 of ruined religious monuments of during 14 to 18 century. visit to colorful Inn Dain market which is held once in every five days .The native Innthar people and Pa Oh people who live on the mountain come and sell their farm product and textile in the market. There you can do shopping some vegetable for your cooking class lesson after that visit to Phaung Daw Oo temple, the holiest religious site in southern Shan state and home for five scared statues then continue to the village for your lunch. After noon continuing the trip, tour included famous silversmith workshop and Nge pe Chaung monastery which is over 165 years old .Enjoy a spectacular sunset from your hotel.

Day20 : Inle Lake – Heho - Yangon

After breakfast transfer to Heho airport and fly back to Yangon by morning flight. Arrival at Yangon city, continue for sightseeing. Tour highlights include a royal barge for fantastic photo shot along the “pilgrima” causeway across the Royal Lake with stunning views of Shwedagon Pagoda, Chaukhtutgyi: a huge reclining Buddha image. After lunch, visit the Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott Market) for souvenir shopping. Late afternoon stroll around China Town and continue to Shwedagon Pagoda. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day21 : Yangon International departure

After breakfast transfer to international airport and fly back to you home. End of services.
